Mums are a crazy Texas thing...they are huge silk mums with lots of ribbon and dangling items...including bells, whistles and beads...some even have lights!  The bigger the mum the better for a girl.  Even the guys get one...just not as big.  The kids wear them the day of the big game to school...sadly that is just about the only time you will see it. I had fun learning how to make one...thanks to my sweet friend Amy I think mine turned out pretty good for the first time.  Of course I already have ideas for next years mum...
