It is a blessing to have a seven year old in the house...otherwise I am afraid that we would all rush through this month doing our own thing. Having Merideth here reminds us all to keep the wonder of the season at the forefront of our hearts and minds. It is fun to do our traditional stuff with her and to experience new things through her eyes. We baked cookies, crafted and enjoyed Elf on the Shelf just to name a few...
.
We made our yearly batch of chocolate pretzels...this year we decorated them with M&M's, toffee pieces, peanuts, marshmallows, peanut chips, mint chips, and sprinkles. We give them away to our neighbors, teachers and coaches and always keep a few for ourselves.
One other thing we did this year was we read one book each night from our Christmas pile...I wrapped up 25 books and each night Merideth unwrapped one and some one in the family read to her and with her. It was a fun activity that everyone could be involved with and it seems like everyone enjoyed remembering which books they loved when they were younger. Sadly, I did not take any photos of the pile or as she was reading them...maybe next year!
