Road Trip ....

This year for my birthday I was really expecting things to be low key...but as he often does, Bill managed to come up with a super fun idea.  He made some calls and arranged for us to go to Houston to see a Cubs game!!!  We love the Cubs and we enjoy being Cub fans so this was a perfect gift...but it got even better when Bill told me that our wonderful friends Mike and Jill would be joining us at the game!

Bonnie and Jerry gave us their jerseys to wear...it was fun to be a super fan for the evening!

Jill and I have been friends for over 20 years!! She is a precious friend.

Bill and I left Dallas after we dropped the kids off at school. We made great time getting to Houston. Bill took me to his favorite sushi restaurant...Red Fish. After lunch Bill went to his meetings and I hung out at Starbucks. When he was finished we headed to Hotel Inverness to meet up with my sister Taryn,brother in law Preston and sweet baby Baird!  It was fun to see them for a few minutes but then it was time to get to the Ball Park.  We arrived in time to see the Cubbies warming up so we took some fun pictures of our favorite team!

Just as the game was about to start we realized that President George Bush and Barbara were at the game with us.  They were sitting in the section next to ours about 20 rows in front of us. It was fun to watch them enjoy the game. When they left during the 7th inning the crowd gave them a standing ovation. Texans love their beloved Presidents!!!

Thanks to a family friend, we had amazing seats!  We were between third and home 20 rows back....perfect for watching the game!

We had a blast during the game.  The people sitting around us were a mix of Cub fans and Astoro fans so it made for some fun bantering.  The Cubbies were winning for the whole game but the Astros did make a run for it when they hit a grand slam.  In the end ....CUBS WIN!!!!
